Beginning April 8, we are honoured to facilitate a four-session professional learning series for the BC Principals' & Vice-Principals' Association: Navigating AI with Relational Integrity in BC Schools: Mattering Metamorphosis. Across four Wednesday afternoons, we'll be holding space with school leaders from across the province as we move together through what we believe is one of the most consequential conversations education is currently being asked to have.
What this series is — and what it isn't
This series will not teach you how to use AI; there are plenty of webinars for that already, and most of them assume the question on the table is 'how to adopt these tools more efficiently'. We are interested in different questions.
What does it mean to lead a school community through a technology that is reshaping not just classrooms, but relationships with knowledge itself? What gets surfaced - about us, our institutions, or our assumptions, when AI walks into the room? What might we be losing in our rush to keep up, and what might become possible if we slowed down enough to notice?
These aren't rhetorical questions. They're the questions principals, vice-principals, and other school leaders are already living, often without a container in which to think them through honestly.
A four-session arc
Across the series, we'll move through four movements together. We begin with Overload as Oracle, locating ourselves in the very real overwhelm that so many school leaders are carrying and reframing that overwhelm not as failure, but as information about what matters. We move to Not Neutral, widening our view to consider AI's ecological, ethical, epistemic, and equity dimensions, drawing on the work of Dr. Vanessa Andreotti and the Metarelational AI initiative. Then comes Scaffolding the Shift, where we turn from awareness toward practice - not policy templates, but portable practices for tending culture, hosting harder conversations, and being with AI differently. We close with Stewardship Beyond Strategy, an invitation to step into a posture of relational stewardship in genuinely uncertain times. Each session follows the same six-phase rhythm, the structure itself becomes a container of trust. Within that predictable rhythm, the conversations deepen each week.
This series rests on two bodies of work that have been quietly shaping our own thinking. The first is Metarelational AI, an emerging orientation that treats artificial intelligence not as a neutral tool but as a relational phenomenon embedded in cultural worldview; one that asks us to relate to emergent intelligences with humility, paradox, and care. The second is Compassionate Systems Leadership, the framework grounded in Peter Senge's recognition that our systems work the way they work because of how we work — and that the leader's inner capacity is not separate from the system's health.
Neither body of work is presented as content to be taught; they're sense-making resources, woven into the structure of the series, surfacing only when they help illuminate what participants are already feeling.
